Looking for a vibrant hair shade to match your colourful personality, but you don’t fancy the bleaching session? We’ve got some great options that will allow you to use Manic Panic without bleach! It’s important before you go ahead with dyeing your naturally dark hair that you understand your experience of having coloured hair may not be quite the same as if you had pre-lightened your hair.

Applying Manic Panic on unbleached dark hair also known as level 4 hair won’t make for a vibrant result, in fact, the darker the base colour the less vibrant the colour will appear. However, beginning with a medium brown toned base can make for some beautifully rich hues upon the strands when using certain Manic Panic colours. Our semi-permanent hair dyes consist of a non-damaging formula that does not compromise the health of your hair, however, this does then mean that the colour does not lift your natural shade. Due to this, we recommend using the more pigmented shades from Manic Panic on medium brown hair in order to achieve deep tones of your chosen colour that can be seen in certain lights.

How long does Manic Panic last on unbleached hair? Unfortunately, you’ll find that the longevity of your colour is much shorter than if it were applied to pre-lightened hair. Manic Panic on unbleached dark hair will not last for long as the hair although in great condition will not hold the colour as well; this is due to the lack of porosity within the strands. The best base for the Manic Panic colours is a pre-lightened blonde base.  This is not to say that you may not use Manic Panic on unbleached dark hair, in fact as our formulas are fortified with only the safest vegan and cruelty-free ingredients you may top up your colour however often you like without worrying about damaging your hair.

Here you can find a number of highly pigmented Manic Panic shades that may produce deep and rich tones to a level 4 base, but remember that if you wish to achieve true vibrancy from your chosen colour you will be required to pre-lighten your hair.
