The hair levels chart allows you to discover which numbered level your hair colour is currently at. The ‘levels’ are just a way for you to simply describe the lightness of your hair without having to go on a tangent about how your hair is currently a medium-blonde with cool dark tones throughout; instead, you can just say a level 6.

The Manic Panic semi-permanent dyes achieve their most vibrant and true to colour versions on a pre-lightened base between the hair levels of 7 and 10. If you are willing to bleach your hair to get to one of these hair levels, then you will find that many of our coloured dyes will appear vibrant in your hair. However, if you find that your current shade isn’t quite matching these shades on the hair levels bleaching chart and you would prefer to avoid having to pre-lighten your hair, you may need to take a look at just how your darker hair will affect the dye and its result.
