Does Manic Panic work on black hair? We hate to say it, but the majority of our colours, unfortunately, do not. Using Manic Panic on black hair will not produce vibrant results, as our colours require a much lighter base for them to reach any sort of intensity. If you are looking to achieve subtle hues amongst a more natural dark hair colour, we recommend applying your colours to at least a level 4 dark brown base colour. It is also important to understand that applying Manic Panic on dark hair not only minimises the amount of colour that can be visibly seen, it also lessens the amount of time that the colour is in your hair. This is due to the low porosity of the hair follicle in unbleached hair which will not hold onto the dye for long.
