The Fairycore Aesthetic & Your Hair

The Fairycore Aesthetic & Your Hair

It’s no secret that spring and summer tend to be the most significant times of the year for style changes and aesthetic exploration. With Coachella having just kicked off the start of our warmer seasons, we have already seen a huge shift in trends, and we’ve got one in particular on our minds! The Fairycore trend has become a firm favourite for those looking to experiment with a new style this year. The fairy aesthetic features a whimsical and ethereal vibe, perfect for those brighter days.

So, what changes could you make to achieve a true Fairycore finish? Consider your everyday style; this aesthetic features an earthy colour palette, so look at the shades and tones in your environment for inspiration. Often, soft pastel colours are very popular within this trend, but you’ll find that mossy green hues fit well too! Look at your clothing; achieving a fairy-style finish often includes soft materials and a range of different textures, such as lace and velvet. Whilst some choose to throw themselves deep into this fanciful trend by adding wings and pointed ears, the aesthetic doesn’t always have to become a cosplay, and your everyday look can simply pay homage or include accents of this trend.

One way that you can begin your Fairycore journey is with your hair colour. There are so many different ways to embrace this quirky aesthetic through your hair: pastel tones, placement, colour combinations, and more. In this blog, we‘re exploring the different colours of the Fairycore aesthetic. We’ll be looking at previous creations from our ambassadors and affiliates to see how you can integrate the Manic Panic hair colours into your whimsical finish.

Pastel Hair Colours

Pastels tend to be a favourite when it comes to a fairy colour palette; the softness of these shades fits well with the playful and unconventional energy that comes with this aesthetic.

If you’re a keen Manic Panic Dye Hard, you’ll probably be familiar with our beautiful range of pastel hair dye, the Manic Panic Creamtones Perfect Pastels collection. These 4 hues are just what you want from a pastel hair colour; cool in tone and very light in pigmentation. In this range, find pastelised versions of blue, green, purple and orange. Alternatively, create your own pastel soft palette with the Manic Panic Pastel-izer, a creamy formula that can be mixed with any pigmented shade to customise and create your own pastel colour scheme.

So, what should you know about pastel colour hair dye before application? Most importantly, if the goal is light and even, your base colour should match this. Pastel hair colours require a pre-lightened level 10 base to produce a visible and effective result; applying these colours to a base colour any darker than this will not allow the colour to show. Once the hair has been lightened, toning is key to ensure any unwanted brassy or yellow hues do not cause the coloured dye to create an unexpected result. Finally, it is important that when using pastel hair colours, you are aware of their longevity type. Due to the very minimal amount of pigmentation in these dyes, pastel tones are likely to remain in the hair for 2-4 weeks before completely fading.

Forest Creature-Inspired

Are you inspired by the vibrant colours that we find in our own environment? Why not incorporate these into your Fairycore hair? Popular colours include moss green, river teal, and sunshine yellow. Complete your forest creature hair by adding the enchanting tones of Manic Panic. Colours such as Voodoo Forest and Enchanted Forest both hold shades of greenish blue; neither is a true green colour, but their results provide a beautiful, bewitching finish. If you prefer a true green tone, try Venus Envy. This bold and vibrant green hair colour is reminiscent of the outdoor environment and displays an unmissable result!

If you like the idea of a forest creature look but green isn’t your colour, take inspiration from other aspects of the environment too. Yellow and blue are two colours that we love to see in the Fairycore aesthetic. They can both be vibrant and stand out amongst other shades, or you can customise your chosen colours by mixing them with other colours; did we mention all of our semi-permanent hair dyes are intermixable?

Metallic Magic Tones

We couldn’t do Fairycore without talking about the metallic hair colours that continue to lead this ethereal aesthetic. Whether you opt for icy platinum hair results or a shining silver hue, this colour palette is a great option for those with a clean blonde base who fancy a change but nothing too dramatic!

Want to know the best way to achieve this sort of light to white blonde tone? You will need to pre-lighten your hair to a level 10. This is very blonde and is more than likely going to take a few sessions of bleaching to achieve. Once you have achieved the result you require, you will need to pick your hair toner for blonde, silver, pearl, or platinum results. To achieve a silver result, the Manic Panic silver toner, known as the Silver Stiletto Toner, is a greyish purple hue that can be applied to pre-lightened light blonde hair to achieve a silvery hue. Alternatively, try the Manic Panic Virgin Snow toner to achieve a platinum blonde result with a warm tint.

Natural Earth Hues

Embrace the Fairycore aesthetic with our natural colour palette. You don’t have to change the colour of your hair to achieve this eccentric vibe; give your natural hair colour some love with the Love Color™ Conditioners from our natural colour collection. Although a different formula to or semi-permanent hair dyes, these coloured conditioners are just as pigmented and will refresh your natural hue within 10 minutes!

In this collection, find two colours for brown hair, one for black hair, and another for copper. These shades are all particularly popular within this trending aesthetic, especially copper! Copper coloured hair has been popular for several years and doesn’t seem to be budging anytime soon, so keep on top of your golden auburn locks with Copper Kitty from the Manic Panic Love Color™ range.

Now that you’re up to date with the different colour palettes and overall vibes that you could achieve with this aesthetic, are you ready to dive headfirst into Fairycore? We love the freeing and creative aura that this aesthetic provides, and we’re sure there are plenty of ways that you can experiment with your style with Fairycore in mind.
