Kim Kardashian - American Horror Story
The new trailer for season 12 of American Horror Story has dropped and it’s looking just as creepy and binge-worthy as the rest. This new series features an ageing actor, Siobhan Walsh played by none other than businesswoman and the face of many favourable memes, Kim Kardashian. The promotion of the latest season that has been displayed across social media and news articles shows Kim Kardashian with long bright platinum hair, a tight slimming and deep plunge black dress, bright red glossy lips and over-the-elbow latex gloves.
To complete your American Horror Story Kim Kardashian creation, we’ve chosen the perfect Manic Panic shade for this look. To match her icy white lengths, choose Manic Panic Silver Stiletto Toner to create a bright platinum result. Pair with the Silver Stiletto Toning Shampoo and Conditioner to assist and help create a toned result. This colour will require a pre-lightened base of at least a level 10 to ensure a noticeable and successful colour similar to the American Horror Story character.
Dua Lipa - Barbie Movie
The film of the year - the Barbie movie! This film and its promotion absolutely took over any sort of platform and there was no avoiding it. Part of the exciting global promotion was the iconic character images that came out on social media earlier this year naming each Barbie, Ken and any other relevant fictional persona that was involved in the making of this. Worldwide megastar, Dua Lipa was of course a part of this successful project, both in film and soundtrack. We were obsessed with the Dua Lipa Barbie character as soon as we set eyes on her, a beautiful royal blue mermaid!
This look was definitely a stand-out option for us when choosing our favourite 2023 costume ideas. With her vibrant blue locks and silver blue outfit, this costume couldn’t be passed up this year! Create your Mermaid Barbie movie look with a simple blue crop top or bikini top and a flowing blue maxi skirt; you could even elevate it by adding some silver body glitter to emphasise the shine of the original look. Pair your mermaid Halloween costume with the Manic Panic Blue Moon semi-permanent hair dye for a vibrant ocean-blue transformation! In order to achieve a bright tone like Dua Lipa’s we would suggest pre-lightening the hair to at least a level 8 blonde.
Ariel - The Little Mermaid
Another movie release that really took over the cinema screens was the live-action version of a classic Disney story, The Little Mermaid. Another amazing mermaid look that you could recreate for your Halloween event this year, but this time with those awesome vibrant copper locks! A modern take on the classic animated version of The Little Mermaid, the 2023 producers transformed Ariel's mermaid hairstyle. Halle Bailey made a perfect fit for the new Little Mermaid movie, both as a mermaid within the awesome ocean scene and as a human on the land with her Prince Eric.
Do you like the idea of becoming a global character favourite for this year’s spooky event? Create your own version of The Little Mermaid Halloween costume with your favourite metallic glitzy outfit whether a two-piece or an inspired dress; what will really help to give this costume what it needs is getting that copper hair. Our favourite Manic Panic shade for this costume is Electric Tiger Lily, a vibrant true orange tone but to make it even more suitable for your Ariel costume we like to gradually mix the orange tone with a small amount of Dark Star to create a more muted tone.
Doja Cat - Paris Fashion Week
Does anyone remember Doja Cat’s appearance at Paris Fashion Week at the beginning of the year? Not sure how you could have missed it. 30,000 red Swarovski crystals and a bucket of red body paint later, Doja Cat’s intentions of turning heads and making the front page of multiple print media were 100% successful. Known for her statement looks we couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to become an iconic Doja Cat look, especially throughout this year. Having successfully created this vibrant red transformation, the rapper then went on to pay homage to Karl Lagerfeld at the Met Gala dressed as his cat Choupette and her recent appearance as a Demon with vibrant red eyes and horns for her new music video.
Now, we aren’t going to suggest spending 5 hours covering yourself in bright red body paint and crystals, but why not use this look to inspire your 2023 Halloween costume? A vibrant red dress and some simple vibrant red body paint from the chest up will easily provide a similar look to Doja Cat’s, but you could really bring this look together by matching your bright red outfit with some awesome red semi-permanent hair dye! Try the Manic Panic Pillarbox Red dye for this look; not only is the colour an ideal match to recreate this look but bright red hair is also an autumn/winter favourite for this year. Two birds with one stone? We think yes!
Wednesday Addams - Wednesday
So, maybe this television series isn’t strictly a 2023 creation but it is still very much holding its ground as one of the most popular TV programmes recently. Wednesday was longingly awaited by die-hard Addams Family fans and it definitely didn’t disappoint; the storyline, character personalities, dance moves and fashion! This option would make a perfect choice for someone who might not be so keen to step into the colourful world this Halloween but is still looking to make an impact.
Wednesday is known for her jet-black plaits, both within the original movie and the new television series. Create your Wednesday Addams costume DIY costume with a simple white collared blouse, black crew neck jumper and either a plain black skirt or trousers. Complete this iconic Halloween costume with the Manic Panic Raven semi-permanent hair dye! This colour is a perfect match for your Wednesday Addams look thanks to its dark pigmentation and that it requires minimal preparation. The Raven hair dye can be applied to a dark base colour, it will take to a base as dark as black itself and can be used to just enhance the deepness of your tone.
