A natural copper tone, often referred to as auburn, is a beautiful combination of vivid orange and red tones. This natural hair colour is particularly sought after nowadays due to its vibrant appearance, but also due to how seldom we see it as a natural tone compared to other shades such as brunette or blonde. This warm tone is a staple colour on many different skin tones, but is particularly popular on those that are paler.
To create your own natural copper hue, try using the Manic Panic Copper Kitty Love Color™ Colour Depositing Conditioner. This vivid-toned conditioner is best applied to a light blonde base; however, it can be applied to a darker base, such as a level 6, to provide a golden tint that is most prominent under certain lights. The Copper Kitty conditioner can be used to enhance an already similar tone, to change the colour of hair completely, or to add a subtle change.
Strawberry blonde copper hair is a much lighter and subtler take on this classic, vibrant tone. If you count yourself a proud blonde but are looking to add something a little extra to your finished result, then this could be a great option for you. To achieve a version of this tone, your hair will need to be lightened to at least a level 8-9 blonde; some warmth in the hair is not a problem, however, the lighter the base, the more effective the copper toner will appear.
To create your own strawberry blonde hue using the Manic Panic colours, we suggest starting with the Virgin Snow toner. This pale pigment already holds some soft warmth, making it the perfect base. Add a very small amount of one of the Manic Panic orange shades; we like Copper Kitty, or for a more vibrant orange tone, you could add a touch of Psychedelic Sunset. We recommend adding your pigmented tones to the toner in very small amounts and swatching as you go. This will allow you to slowly achieve the tone you desire, as it is easier to make the colour darker than lighter.
Another popular copper shade is the cherry red copper colour. This deep tone features a combination of brown, orange, and red tones to create a beautiful copper red hair colour. This is a striking option for those who already have dark hair colour, as its overall result isn’t to appear bright like a true copper; the red and orange colours act as undertones that are more noticeable in sunlight.
To create your own version of this copper and berry red hair dye using the Manic Panic hair colours, we suggest creating a custom mix starting with the Havana Brown Love Color™ Conditioner and mixing a red tone of your choice (we like Pillarbox Red) and Electric Tiger Lily. Once again, add your red and orange colours slowly to the brown tone so that they do not become too overpowering. If you are dyeing an already brown base that is dark enough for your result, you can miss out on having the brown tone in your mix; create your perfect red and orange combination and apply it to the dark base to create a warm copper hair colour.
